Sort of a timely description… In a season where there is a lot changing in the world, there is also a lot changing in my mind.
There are so many different things I want to write. Normally all my thoughts live together. They share a space on paper bound by leather. I’m excited for them to exist in a small space on the internet where they can find their place amongst the scores of writers on substack.
I’m about to leave to play pickup soccer so this one will be quick. I play soccer every Monday night right after work. These days we have to play immediately after work because the sun sets so early. We are brainstorming solutions for that problem now. You’d be surprised how hard it is to find a field to play on that has lighting for free. Maybe that’s an American problem or a Texan problem. In Texas something like 99% of all land is privately owned. Good and bad in different ways. Not going to get into that in this particular newsletter but surely in another one.
Land stewardship and resource conservation has also been sort of at the forefront of my mind over the last 6 months. what have I done about it? pretty much nothing. but I am educating myself to maybe do something about it at some point. I have a friend who I think works for a non profit dedicated to protecting water features and conserving water in the hill country region of texas. I’d like to get involved in that.
I wrote a first post that is more of a serious work on names and growing up.
but I accidentally wrote it in a different “publication”???? idk how this works guys.
Anyway, thank you for being here. I look forward to being in your inbox twice a week.
Your friend!

My cowriter and I use Matchday to find pick up games here in Austin. The pitch has floodlights so you can play late. 10/10 would recommend
